Datatool2.8.0 - App Store

Datatool is a Thatcham insurance industry approved GPS/GLONASS/GSM based tracking and theft notification service designed specifically for scooters and motorcycles but now with Journey History and G-Sense impact detection.

Datatool activates automatically as soon as the ignition is switched off and monitors the bike for signs of unauthorised movement. If movement is detected without the ignition being switched on and the bike is moved away from where it was parked, Datatool will enter full alert mode and notification will be sent to the dedicated 24/7/365 Datatool Monitoring Team.

In the event of a suspected theft, the Datatool Monitoring Team will contact the owner immediately and if a theft is confirmed, will liaise with the Police on the owner’s behalf to aid recovery.

The Datatool app allows owners to view the location of their vehicle(s), view journey history, enable the G-Sense alert crash detection, manage account details and communicate directly with the Datatool Monitoring Team.

- Phone Tag from your home screen and Control Center: add the Phone Tag widget, or the Phone Tag control, to switch phone tag on and off without opening the app.
- A map-first journey view: opening a journey now shows its route on a map coloured by speed, with heading arrows, where the vehicle idled or parked, and a legend. Tap any point for its speed, direction and time; the trip's details sit just below the map.
- Journeys and Driver Behaviour are now one screen: switch between your journeys and your driving scores with the same date range and vehicles, mark a journey business or personal with a swipe, and see each vehicle's incidents by severity.
- Beacon check-in times: Beacon owners can now choose how often their tracker checks in, from the vehicle details screen.
- What's new after an update: the first time you open the app after updating, it shows a short list of what changed in that version.
- A cleaner, more consistent look across vehicle details, settings, alerts and alarm screens: the same cards, rows and text styles everywhere, with tappable items clearly marked.

Bug fixes
- Phone tag status keeps updating: turning phone tag on and off repeatedly no longer builds up background checks that could stop the vehicle's locked or unlocked status from refreshing.
- Phone tag stays connected when iOS restarts the app in the background: it no longer drops the connection to your vehicle and goes back to searching.
- Immobiliser on tag-reader trackers: vehicles whose tracker uses a touch-key tag reader now show only Disarm and Auto, since those trackers can't be force-armed.
- Fixed a crash that could happen when the app had to return you to the sign-in screen in the background. 2.8.0 20h ago What's new
- Ready for iPhone Duo. The app now makes full use of the larger unfolded screen, so your vehicles, maps and journeys have room to breathe on Apple's newest iPhone.

Bug fixes
- Phone tag is more reliable. It now keeps working when you move to a new iPhone, so you don't have to add it again. It no longer tries to connect to other Bluetooth devices nearby. If unlocking stalls part-way, it now recovers and tries again. If a tag can't be added, the app tells you why instead of just going back to no tag selected. The Share button on the phone tag log screen is no longer hidden behind the tab bar.
- The Installation Certificate button on a vehicle's subscription screen is no longer stuck underneath the Buy Subscription button: you can now scroll it into view and tap it.
- The vehicle photo no longer flickers when you open a vehicle. The photo now stays on screen as the card opens into the vehicle details page, and its colour appears straight away instead of a moment later.
- Fuel economy on the vehicle details screen now follows your Units setting. Customers who chose kilometres saw their consumption in mpg; it now shows in litres per 100 km. 2.7.8 Sep 25 Bug fixes
- Email addresses typed with a stray space at either end are now accepted at sign-in instead of being rejected.
- The PIN keypad was invisible on some brands. On app versions with a white sign-in screen, the Set PIN and PIN unlock screens appeared blank below the title, the number pad was there and the buttons worked, but you couldn't see them. The keypad is now legible on every brand.
- Defender Alarms was missing from Settings if your alarm was fitted after you signed in. The option now appears the next time you open Settings, with no need to reinstall the app. The Groups option had the same problem when you added a second vehicle, and is fixed too.
- Swiping in from the left edge now goes back on the vehicle details and Defender alarm screens, like everywhere else in the app.
- The vehicle details screen now has the usual back arrow at the top left, the same one as everywhere else in the app. 2.7.7 Sep 17 What's new
- The Auto button now shows whether your vehicle is currently immobilised or drivable, red when your tag hasn't been seen, green when it has and any button you're waiting on turns orange until the command reaches the vehicle.
- The immobiliser controls now explain what you've just set: arming a vehicle from the app tells you your physical tag will be ignored until you set it back to Auto, and force-disarming tells you the vehicle won't immobilise even without a tag.
- Alarms last triggered event can now be viewed from the alarm control screen.
- Installers can now open an alarm's full history from the dealer console.

Bug fixes
- Changing your payment card now actually changes the card your subscription renews on. Previously the new card was saved, but the next renewal was still charged to the old card.
- The immobiliser status now updates by itself while a command is on its way to the vehicle, on both the vehicle card and the vehicle details screen, instead of waiting for you to reopen the screen.
- Discounts on your subscription now show up when you buy it and the discount is applied when you pay.
- Signing out no longer asks for Bluetooth permission on the way out.
- Signing out when you have two accounts now asks you to confirm and then tells you which account you have been switched to, instead of appearing to do nothing. 2.7.6 Sep 15 What's new
- The Settings, App Settings and Account screens have been rebuilt and regrouped into clearer sections, including a new section with the user guides relevant to you.
- When your alarm is out of Bluetooth range, the alarm screen now shows the last state it received and how long ago, instead of only "connection lost".
- Turning Bluetooth off on the alarm screen now tells you Bluetooth is off and offers a Retry, and reconnects on its own once you switch it back on.
- Settings now has a Sold Vehicle Form section.
- You can now edit your mobile number from the Account screen.

Bug fixes
- The app crashing on start after reinstalling it: deleting and reinstalling the app could leave it closing immediately every time you opened it, with no way to recover. It now signs you back in normally.
- When pairing an alarm by typing its serial number, the number keypad now has a Done button, so you can close it and tap Continue.
- Scrolling quickly through Alerts or Location Shares no longer occasionally repeats an entry in the list.
- The immobilisation state showing the wrong status: a vehicle set to Automatic no longer reads "Unknown", and a parked vehicle now reads "Armed" instead of sitting on "Pending".
- The Agree and Disagree buttons on the privacy policy and terms screens now match the rest of the app, and the text no longer runs underneath them. 2.7.4 Sep 3 What's new
- When you add a photo of your vehicle, you can now check how it looks before saving it, and drag a slider to remove other cars parked behind yours.
- Customers pairing a Defender alarm are now told clearly when the alarm's name has been changed and can call support straight from the pairing screen, instead of the pairing simply failing.

Bug fixes
- When a vehicle photo has other cars in the shot, the app now keeps just the main car rather than cutting out every car it can see (cars parked touching or overlapping each other can still come out together).
- The photo saved to your vehicle card is now always the one you were looking at when you confirmed it, and tapping confirm twice no longer uploads it twice. 2.7.3 Aug 28 What's new
- You can now report a vehicle as sold using a new more detailed form.
- Turning on movement or crash alerts now uses the same phone-number panel everywhere, which should make turning alerts on easier.

- The redesigned vehicle page and vehicle cards stayed light even with Dark Theme switched on. They now follow your setting straight away.
- The app no longer signs you out at random intervals.

- The vehicle list and vehicle details screens have a refreshed design: your vehicle's photo, its current status at a glance, quick View and Trips buttons, MOT and tax dates, and a small map showing where the vehicle is.
- You can now add your own photo of your vehicle: the background is removed for you and the picture appears on the vehicle card, where you can replace or remove it at any time.
- You can tint the vehicle card to match your vehicle's colour and switch it between a light and a dark look.
- A short tour introduces the new vehicle photos and colours the first time you open the card, and you can replay it any time from App Settings.
- You can now change the app's language from Account Settings instead of going to your phone's Settings, and your choice is saved to your account so emails and notifications follow it too.
- Defender alarm owners can now see the alarm's wireless devices and its alarm history from the app.
- You can share or save your Defender alarm history as a file, for example to send it on to support.
- You can now see the app version at the bottom of the Settings screen.
